Woman's March on the Border
"Join the women of this region as we march on Saturday, January 21, 2017 to celebrate our home, our unity and our community. We wish to join the nationwide mobilization of women and their allies on this date. This is a Women's March on the Border! Many of us feel anxious about what the future holds for women, for families, for immigrants and for our borderland. We choose to trade silence and fear for strength and action. We now choose to mobilize, to stand strong and to defend our community. We choose to stand side by side in defense of women and the families that make our community beautiful. We invite everyone to march safely with us to represent our home and the incredible women who live here. We need ALL OF YOU! We are undivided, without borders and boundless." We will meet at Armijo Park in Segundo Barrio to begin our journey together. The march will end at the historic San Jacinto Plaza in the heart of downtown El Paso, TX. We are non-partisan, and will not use this Women’s March primarily to criticize politicians or political parties. We will use no violence (physical or verbal) towards any person. We will not destroy or damage property. We will promote a tone of respect, honesty, transparency, and accountability in our actions. We will not carry anything that can be construed as a weapon, nor possess (or consume) any alcohol or drugs. We will all hold each other accountable to respecting these agreements. Join us! ----- Únase a las mujeres de esta región mientras marchamos el sábado 21 de enero de 2017 para celebrar nuestro hogar, nuestra unidad y nuestra comunidad. Queremos unirnos a la movilización nacional de mujeres y sus aliados en esta fecha. ¡Esta es una marcha de mujeres en la frontera! Muchas de nosotras nos sentimos ansiosas de lo que depara el futuro para mujeres, familias, inmigrantes y para nuestra comunidad fronteriza. Nosotras elegimos intercambiar el silencio y el miedo por fortaleza y acción. En este momento, nosotras elegimos movilizarnos, estar firmes y defender a nuestra comunidad. Elegimos pararnos juntas para defender a nuestras mujeres y sus familias que hacen posible a nuestra comunidad. Invitamos a todos y a todas a que marchen con nosotras para representar a nuestro hogar y a las increíbles mujeres que viven aquí. ¡Los necesitamos A TODOS Y TODAS! Somos indivisibles, sin fronteras y sin límites. Nos reuniremos en el parque Armijo en Segundo Barrio para comenzar nuestro trayecto. Marcharemos hasta llegar a la Plaza San Jacinto en el corazón del centro de El Paso, TX. No somos partidistas, y no usaremos esta Marcha de Mujeres para criticar a individuos o a partidos políticos. No usaremos ningún tipo de violencia (física o verbal) hacia ninguna persona. No destruiremos o dañaremos ninguna propiedad. Promoveremos un tono respetuoso, honesto, transparente al igual que la responsabilidad por nuestras acciones. No llevaremos nada que pueda ser usado como arma, no poseeremos (o consumiremos) ningún tipo de alcohol o droga. Todos y todas nos responsabilizaremos de respetar estos acuerdos.
